Conquest Events have just announced that the French Revolution Rally will run from 3rd to 9th June 2012 in the Burgundy and Morvan regions of France. Having left magnificent Fontainebleau the rally route winds gently through country lanes, visiting pretty villages and having blown away the cobwebs with a final exciting regularity section, the fortified town of Semur en Aussois will let down it’s drawbridge to welcome us for two nights. Tuesday’s circular route will see crews delve deep into the Parc Régional du Morvan where the competition and roads tighten to give drivers a spirited drive, whilst navigators will be kept busy staying on route through the forests and deep gorges. The following day sees the rally route twist and turn through the undulating countryside as the tempo increases, but there will be time to enjoy the views on the non-timed sections before reaching Beaune.
The penultimate day will see a shorter route, but it will be action all the way! The clock starts running as we rally deep into the Côte-d’Or vineyards of Burgundy, and although the rally route will visit many villages that can be found on a wine list, there are plenty of rural lanes to enjoy driving and junctions to find. After the final control there will be time to enjoy a glass of wine and take a peek around a gorgeous château.
The rolling country sets the scene for the final day’s rallying, which will be testing, but very satisfying! All we can promise is that controls will be thick and fast; navigators will need to be on their mettle and their drivers timing “Spot On” to achieve low scores. The finale of this amazing event will be the Prize Giving and Celebration Dinner in the cool caves at Hostellerie le Cédre.
